Mine 14In December of 2009, MAXIM’s wholly owned subsidiary Milner Power Inc. received regulatory approval to construct and operate Mine 14 located on the southern portion of Grande Mountain in Grande Cache, Alberta. Coal reserves are estimated to be 13 million tonnes of metallurgical coal. At proposed production levels of 480,000 tonnes per year, the projected project life is approximately 27 years. The coal from the proposed Mine 14 provides an excellent source of thermal fuel to generate electricity at the existing H.R. Generating Station as well as support for a proposed new generating station at the existing power plant site. The coal contained within Mine 14 is a low volatile, sub-bituminous coal consistent with higher value metallurgical coals in the region. Coal from Mine 14 is suitable for the export coking coal market, subject to global economic conditions supporting this use. During construction, approximately 200 employees and contactors will be required. When operating, the mine will require about 40 operational, professional, administrative and maintenance staff.
