Pittsfield Generating Company LP, MassachusettsIn 2008, MAXIM acquired the Pittsfield Generating Company and its 170 MW combined-cycle electric power plant in Pittsfield, MA, for US $52.4 million. The Pittsfield facility is contracted under a Reliability Must Run Agreement with ISO New England (ISO-NE) until 2010. Under this agreement, the plant must be available to provide power to the regional power grid when requested. Following expiration of the agreement, the facility will be eligible for Forward Capacity Market Payments from ISO-NE, as well as the sale of energy into ISO-NE’s day-ahead and real-time energy markets. The Pittsfield generation facility is a dual-fuel plant which predominantly operates the 3 GE Frame 6B gas turbines on natural gas but has the flexibility to use fuel oil. The plant began commercial generation in 1990 and is operated by PurEnergy LLC.
