Worldwide, the power industry continues to move towards deregulation. This has eliminated traditional barriers to entry and is allowing IPPs like MAXIM to invest in power generation capacity. Despite weaker market fundamentals over the last few years, worldwide energy consumption and demand for new capacity are projected to grow substantially in the next two decades, providing new investment opportunities for IPPs. MAXIM remains well positioned as a strong competitor and is pursuing numerous acquisitions and new-build opportunities.

MAXIM's asset base consists of a mix of coal and natural gas powered generators in western Canada, the United States and France.
