Bruce Chernoff

Interim Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Chernoff is a Professional Engineer with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University.  Mr. Chernoff has been the President of Caribou Capital Corp., a private investment company, since 1999 and was the Chairman and Founder of Harvest Energy Trust.  Mr. Chernoff is also a director of several other public and private entities.

Dwayne Dychkowski

Vice President, Engineering Services

Mr. Dychkowski has over thirty-four years of power generation experience in the development, design, construction and operation of coal-fired generation, cogeneration, combined cycle generation and hydro generation.  Mr. Dychkowski began his career with Calgary Power (now TransAlta).  During his career with TransAlta, he managed the building of the Meridian Cogeneration Station in Lloydminster, Alberta and the Sarnia Regional Cogeneration Plant in Sarnia, Ontario.  In addition, Mr. Dychkowski was Plant Manager at the Sundance and Wabamun Generating Stations.  Mr. Dychkowski joined MAXIM in August 2010.

Kim Karran

Ms. Karran began her career with NOVA Gas International. She held progressively more senior positions in the business development area and worked on a number of international projects including several of NOVA’s investments in Chile and Argentina. After five years with the international group, Ms. Karran transitioned to NOVA Gas Canada (later TransCanada Midstream) where she led the evaluation of midstream opportunities. Upon leaving TransCanada Midstream, Ms. Karran joined ENMAX Corporation in a business development role, specifically on the development of independent power projects. Ms. Karran joined MAXIM in October 2000.

Mike Mayder

Mr. Mayder has over twenty years of finance, accounting, and business development experience in the electrical energy and utility sectors. Mr. Mayder began his career with the City of Calgary carrying out various roles including Controller of the City's electrical department and stewardship over the City's financial information system. During the 1990's the City of Calgary incorporated its electrical department into Enmax Corporation. As part of this initiative, Mr. Mayder established the financial functions and completed the company's initial financings. This led to progressively more senior roles including Director of Finance, Treasurer, and Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Mayder has practiced as an independent management consultant advising businesses on finance, accounting, and regulatory matters.  Mr. Mayder joined MAXIM in October 2007.

Rob Schaefer

Corporate Strategy Executive

Mr. Schaefer is Corporate Strategy Executive of Maxim Power Corp. He is also Vice-chair of the Calgary Food Bank.

Mr. Schaefer’s twenty-nine year career includes a number of senior management positions in the energy business at TransAlta, Resin Systems, Enmax, Mirant and TransCanada. His business experience spans corporate development, strategic planning, commercial operations, energy trading, risk management, and finance. He has worked in Canada, Switzerland and the United States.

Mr. Schaefer joined Maxim in June 2016 as Corporate Strategy Executive, responsible for a number of strategic initiatives, including the sale of its foreign businesses. Prior to joining Maxim, Mr. Schaefer was an executive with TransAlta Corporation holding various positions, including Executive Vice President of Marketing and Executive Vice President of Corporate Development. Mr. Schaefer started his career in finance with big four accounting firms in Canada and Switzerland before entering the energy business upon his return to Canada in the early 90s.

Mr. Schaefer is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. He maintains an active lifestyle and loves to travel with his wife and adult children.

Rob Watson

Vice President, Canadian Facilities

With over sixteen years of experience in the Alberta electricity industry, Mr. Watson has a diverse background in operations, market analysis, energy marketing and portfolio management.  Prior to joining MAXIM in October 2006, Mr. Watson was with Enmax Corporation in the Commercial Services group.  Mr. Watson has actively participated in the Clean Air Strategic Alliance (CASA) 2013 Electricity Framework Review and has represented MAXIM on the Board of the Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta (IPPSA) since 2012.

Tim Workman

Mr. Workman has over twelve years of finance and accounting experience in the electrical generation and energy sectors.  Mr. Workman began his career in public practice with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Calgary.  He has held progressively more senior positions at ATCO Power, Enbridge Inc. and Enmax Corporation covering a broad range of corporate finance and accounting activities. Mr. Workman joined MAXIM in May 2011.
